Top 5 Wedding Dress Trends for 2016

With 2015 over the hump, we look to trends for the next wedding season.

2016 will see a combination of modest and sultry, traditional and contemporary.

  • 1)  Capped sleeves. Romantic and whimsical. A slightly more modern take on the long sleeve trend (thanks to Kate Middleton) we saw in 2013 – 2015.

2)  Tiered skirts. Move over princess gown! These rather geometric additional layers add volume, but with a twist.

3)   Plunging Necklines. This edgy look is both modern and definitely adds sex appeal. Now you don’t just need to go with a “fit and flare” to channel sexy.

4)  Suits. The classic tailored white suit is making a comeback.

5)  Capes. Whether it be fabric with some lace, sheer or not, long or short, this over the shoulder cover has made its way to the bridal runways of 2016.

Wedding Trend - Metallic Decor

One of the wedding trends we are seeing is that of the introduction of metallics.

Coppers, bronzes and golds are not only for dresses or accessories – we are seeing them introduced to tablescapes and decor too. Dark and more matt, think old gold and tarnished silver for your candle holders and flower vessels.

Based in Pretoria, Gauteng, Moi Decor Hire is keeping up with this trend due with their selection of brass candlesticks and vessels as well as their collection of baby trophies and metalware. View their vintage decor rental collection here

Vintage trophies for your tablescape

One of the trends for wedding tablescapes for 2015/ 2016 is re-purposing of items - in particular we want to showcase vintage baby trophies and how they can be used to create a lovely vintage feel. Consider them in different sizes, filled with succulents or your favourite roses - either perched ontop of vintage bookstacks or alone.. these are striking, and elegantly chic. Moi Decor Hire rents out a 20 piece set which contains baby trophies as well as a few champagne buckets for this particular purpose. We love!
