We *heart* this Hartford House wedding

We don’t often feature venues outside of Gauteng, but seeing as though many local brides opt to get married in the KZN Midlands we couldn’t resist featuring Hartford House. (Not to be confused with Hertford Country House just outside of Johannesburg.) And why not? It’s beautiful, not too far away and lends to the perfect out of town getaway – just what rushed Gauteng guests need!

Nestled away on a stud farm in the Midlands, this venue marries old world colonial with country charm – and as such was the perfect background for Mary-Lyn and Rowan’s wedding. Taken by the talented Alexis Diack, this laid back wedding proves that simplicity is sophisticated, evident from the brides stunning chiffon gown to her sorbet colour palette. We love her ballet slippers and the gravy boat centrepieces too!

Gina & Richard's Wedding at Lethabo Estate

A friend of mine, Gina, got married in January at the wonderful Lethabo Estate, set on the banks of the Crocodile River, just outside of Jozi. The superb Blackframe Photography team were the photographers of the day and as always, captured the spirit of both Gina and her hubby Richard in all their fun loving glory. What I love about their photographs is that they lend to a timeless, classic look without being over the top or ‘overly posed’.

With touches of vintage peppered throughout the decor and props, Gina captured her vision for the theme of ‘Vintage Music’ beautifully. She used music paper used for the bonbonnierres, confetti cones and the garlands. Not too bad considering she planned the event from the UK and flew down 3 days before her wedding! We also totally love the cake topper – such a cute idea.

We wish Gina and Richard love and light as a married couple, now living in the UK.
xoxo

Colourfully quaint wedding at Duncan Yard

With the plethora of venues in and around Joburg and Pretoria nowadays, it's quite novel to find one that isn’t too well known as a wedding venue, but delivers as one. It has been said that one of the big trends for 2012 is that brides are going to favour alternative locations as ceremony and reception venues. And one such venue that we predict will be pretty popular is shopper’s paradise Duncan Yard. Nestled in the heart of bustling Pretoria in the Hatfield/Brooklyn region, this little boutique lifestyle centre is quite unique and more recently its flagship restaurant, Pappas, has been host to a few weddings this year. A while ago we posted a wedding held at this very venue. What makes this venue a winner is its quaintness and authenticity and the fact that the whole of Duncan Yard serves as a photographer dream. Duncan Yard will also be hosting its first ever bridal showcase in March 2012, and this is set to establish the venue permanently on the wedding map, as it is host to a myriad of suppliers relevant to the wedding industry: hair, makeup, decor, beauty etc. For more info, visit duncanyard.co.za

This colourful wedding was shot by Yolande Marx and she captured the fun, whimsical elements and ambiance of the day. We’re loving the candy bar, the coloured lanterns and the plain yet rustic looking centrepieces. Even Duncan Yard's resident chicken, Herklaas, was part of the festivities... Breathtaking wedding at Oakfield Farm by Stella Uys Photography

We see a lot of weddings here at Teapots, so it’s very rare to see one that truly takes your breath away. This wedding, held at Oakfield Farm and shot by Stella Uys is absolutely magnificent. The detail, the colour palette, the venue, the flowers...they all just came together so beautifully and Stella got some amazing shots of the detailed ruffles, lace, roses... and more! A Contemporary Jozi Wedding, The Forum @ The Campus

The talented photographers at Tyme Photography captured this beautiful ceremony at the stunning boutique hotel La Chatelat in Sandton, and the wedding reception at The Forum, Bryanston in October. Surrounded by offices, this venue isn’t always an obvious choice when it comes to a wedding, but the contemporary space worked well with the magnificent outside tent and then the beautiful purple-blue lighting inside the venue. So much so, that it transformed the whole space! The bride clearly has good taste - we love her veil, her dress, the flowers and her cake... And her groom is pretty handsome too! Stunning wedding at Summer Place...

We can’t say this enough. We love Tyme Photography. We love them with all our hearts. And you will too once you see this beautiful wedding they shot at Summer Place, Sandton, in October. It's pure indulgence for the eye! Perfect for a Friday afternoon...

The bride’s choice of colours were simply amazing and her whole wedding looks like it could be in the pages of a glossy bridal magazine. We love the attention to detail too. And the regal looking bridesmaids dresses. We aren’t seeing much of longer length bridesmaids dresses of late, and they are just lovely. Take a peek at the whole shoot here.

Beautiful wedding at Helderfontein Estate

A good friend of mine got married in August at the spectacular Helderfontein Estate. (I actually blogged about her cutsey patootsie wedding cupcakes a while back.) The super talented Alexander Smith was the photographer and boy oh boy...these photos are fantastic! He really captured the bridal couple's laid back personality brilliantly and took some awesome shots of the venue itself. So much so, that if you didn't know this venue was in Joburg you would think it to be somewhere in the English countryside. View more of this super cute wedding here.
