Sweets for my sweet...
Candy buffets have become quite a trend at weddings and are a great way to emphasize your colour scheme as well as providing favours for your guests... and they look great in photos!
However, there are a few things to consider when looking at incorporating a candy buffet table at your wedding:
1) it can, very quickly, look messy as people help themselves to candy
2) empty candy containers aren’t going to be very pretty to look at once the candy is gone
3) you may need someone to make sure the container are continuously filled with candy...and this cannot be left to a wedding guest to do
4) kids are going to be like moths to a flame to this table
So, yes, it’s pretty to look at. But we all know once people start digging in, without any control or supervision, it may soon look like a candy bomb exploded at your wedding. So, if you can plan around the cons of a candy buffet, we say why not? When else in your life are you going to be able to have your very own candy bar? You can either go the option of getting someone to do the whole candy stand for you or you can rent the candy jars yourself and fill them up with your own candy. For service provides in Gauteng, sweetheartcandybuffets.co.za for the full service solution or you can rent the jars from moidecor.co.za

Wonderfully Whimsical
I love it when the decor at a wedding reflects the elements of a novel (maybe it's because I'm an avid reader who actually studied Publishing). This one is no exception and is peppered with motifs and items from Alice in Wonderland. Taken by the super talented duo Carolien & Ben of Carolien & Ben Photography at one of my favourite venues, Morrells, this wedding was full of the most darling details. View the full post here.

Vera Wang Stationery
The talented Terry Oates from Ribbon Design recently did a post regarding a new line of stationery which acclaimed wedding designer Vera Wang has recently branched into. Translating her sophisticated dress design styles to paper invitations is an interesting move, but we’re sure it’s bound to be popular with Vera bride fans. For more info oon Terry's post, visit Ribbon Design.

Happy Shoesday!
Oooh how we love these powder blue shoes! They work so nicely for something blue as well. It is actually a little tulle clip on the shoe can you believe it? I found them on etsy, but you can make your own if you come across the right colour and tulle fabric (hey, you can even use net). Will post a DIY on how to make the flower on DIY Thursday!

Beautiful wedding at Helderfontein Estate
A good friend of mine got married in August at the spectacular Helderfontein Estate. (I actually blogged about her cutsey patootsie wedding cupcakes a while back.) The super talented Alexander Smith was the photographer and boy oh boy...these photos are fantastic! He really captured the bridal couple's laid back personality brilliantly and took some awesome shots of the venue itself. So much so, that if you didn't know this venue was in Joburg you would think it to be somewhere in the English countryside. View more of this super cute wedding here.

DIY Idea: Aisle Runner
It’s DIY Thursday and we found the most unique DIY project that is so sentimental it’s sure to make a lasting impression on your groom and your guests. This DIY aisle runner, made up of black fabric written on with white fabric paint, contains a message from the bride to the groom and is a quaint way of expressing your feelings on your big day without getting all choked up about it! We found this idea on the blog of Cape based photographer Lizelle Lotter. You can write a bible verse, a poem or any kind of message you wish to share with your groom and guests. Even though this is a Cape wedding, the details are so inspiring that I urge you to just grab a cup of coffee and take it all in... enjoy! View the whole post here.

Happy Shoesday!
Ok, so sometimes I make use of this post to express the dreams I have of all the pairs of shoes I will never own. Like this one. Unless a really wealthy prince charming comes along, Christian Louboutins will always and forever be a dream... especially these pretty, glittery stilletos. *sigh*.

Top 5 Gauteng Venues
Ok, so I know I have mentioned which venues are my top 5 in a myriad of posts, but I have decided to consolidate them for you here. My criteria for the top 5 wedding venues in Gauteng were simply this: something that photographs well, isn't too well known (venue overkill...I could name a few), has an awesome vibe and can really allow the couple to express themselves on their big day. Tall order, I know. Let me know what you think of my top 5:
Venue Number 5: The Rand Club
Love the library and the old colonial world charm feel here....bonus is that you can take your wedding pics in the heart of Jozi, which is also quite cute and different.
Photo credit: {marcphoto.co.za}
Venue Number 4: Turbine Hall
Photo credit: {welovepictures}
My cousin got married here, and it was really the BEST wedding I have ever been to. The lighting was amazing, the food divine, and it really is the perfect venue for a city wedding!
Venue Number 3: Imperfect Perfection
Beautiful rustic charm without pretence...this venue is a wonderful palette that allows you to incorporate your unique style into your day. And price wise, it is really reasonable.
Photo credit: {blackframephotography.co.za}
Venue Number 2: Hazeldene Hall
Again, loving the old world Victorian charm at this venue. And the brookilace and outside gazebo. Also, Word Of Mouth are the exclusive caterers for this venue. You just can’t go wrong here.

Venue Number 1: Morrells Boutique
Ah, Morrells. It truly is quintessentially French and although more suited to a smaller wedding (80 people) it’s the quality in the food and the detail that make this venue my favourite Jozi venue (for now anyway....)

Magnificent Morrells by Kiekie Photography
Hey hey its Friday! And to get us into the weekend, here is a stunning post courtesy of the talented Schantel van de Merwe from Kiekie Photography. This wedding was held at one of Joburg’s most beautiful boutique hotels, Morrells. This also happens to be one of my top 5 Gauteng venues (the others are Hazeldene Hall, Rand Club, Imperfect Perfection and Turbine Hall). With its French Provencal inspired surrounds and interiors, its major eye candy for us here at Teapots. We love the ivy creeping on the walls, the picturesque garden, the olive grove and the detailed furniture and accessories.

Happy Spring(bok) Day!
Happy Spring Day! And to our Bokke, good luck and all the best at the World Cup! We support you no matter what (but please win) :) Just needed some pretty inspiration for this beautiful day in Johannesburg today and I found this pic! (I couldn't find anything really pretty in Green and Gold so this will just have to do...) Nothing says "Celebration" like champagne, macaroons and cake...what a perfect combination on a perfect day!
