Vintage E-session in Pretoria

This adorable vintage inspired e-session was shot by talented Pretoria based photographer, Iz Photography. This creative couple decided to have their photos taken at the very quaint Duncan Yard and Die Sinkhuisie antique store. In addition, they also opted for forestry surrounds and the end result is super fabulous! For more on this shoot, click here.

Let the Deli on Duncan do your Candy Table

Candy tables are a wonderful way to incorporate a trend into your wedding and a great alternative to the usual plated or buffet desserts. The Deli on Duncan (in Hatfield, Pretoria), which makes the most divinely succulent pastries and sweet items, now offers the candy buffet service for brides. Whether your preference lies with candied biscuits, macaroons, meringues, cupcakes or cake pops, the helpful chefs are ready to advise you on your perfect candy table. You can contact them on 012 362 4054 or pop into the Deli on Duncan, in the quaint Duncan Yard centre.

Why not be a Bride with a Brooch?

We’re always excited to feature wedding vendors with a creative edge. Today we bring you Tarien, a Pretoria-based art teacher by day and a self-confessed crafster by night. She loves creating beautiful wedding brooches and alternative corsages, tailor made specifically for each wedding or party. These quirky accessories can be either for the bride, bridesmaids, groomsmen or guests to wear. Her items are available to buy at Fient Gallery in Duncan Yard (also home to our favourite vintage decor rental place and shoppie Moi Decor), so you don’t just need to be a bride in order to get your hands on one of these cuties.

These brooches make wonderful gifts for your retinue and are a great keepsake too. Visit her blog, An Artist in Never Poor, for more.

Colourfully quaint wedding at Duncan Yard

With the plethora of venues in and around Joburg and Pretoria nowadays, it's quite novel to find one that isn’t too well known as a wedding venue, but delivers as one. It has been said that one of the big trends for 2012 is that brides are going to favour alternative locations as ceremony and reception venues. And one such venue that we predict will be pretty popular is shopper’s paradise Duncan Yard. Nestled in the heart of bustling Pretoria in the Hatfield/Brooklyn region, this little boutique lifestyle centre is quite unique and more recently its flagship restaurant, Pappas, has been host to a few weddings this year. A while ago we posted a wedding held at this very venue. What makes this venue a winner is its quaintness and authenticity and the fact that the whole of Duncan Yard serves as a photographer dream. Duncan Yard will also be hosting its first ever bridal showcase in March 2012, and this is set to establish the venue permanently on the wedding map, as it is host to a myriad of suppliers relevant to the wedding industry: hair, makeup, decor, beauty etc. For more info, visit duncanyard.co.za

This colourful wedding was shot by Yolande Marx and she captured the fun, whimsical elements and ambiance of the day. We’re loving the candy bar, the coloured lanterns and the plain yet rustic looking centrepieces. Even Duncan Yard's resident chicken, Herklaas, was part of the festivities... For more on this wedding, click here. We hope you enjoy!
